You know when you drink water from different houses, restaurants, bottles, fountains etc. and they all seem to have a slightly different taste? Well, that’s because not all water is the same! Different waters are produce d differently and do different things for our bodies. In this blog post, we’re going to dive into water; what water is, it’s benefits, and the different kinds of water you can drink for different benefits!

First, what is water? It is a molecule made up of two hydrogen and
one oxygen. In one year, the average American uses
over 100,000 gallons of water, both indoors and outdoors. Approximately 400 billion gallons of water are used in
the United States per day. 68.7% of the fresh water on Earth is trapped in glaciers
and 30% of fresh water is in the ground (seametrics.com).

Let’s talk about what water does for the body. Our bodies are
made up of 60% of water and our brains are made up of 70%. There are multiple things that our bodies
use water for: flushing toxins through the kidneys, increase blood viscosity,
cell rejuvenation, improve brain and neural connections, and regulate body pH
and temperature. The human body is around 7.32-7.45 pH range; going below or
above that range can cause major health issues, such has sickness and inability
to absorb vitamins and minerals. With the average American diet high in sugars,
processed food, and excessive amounts of caffeine, we tend to be more acidic in
nature. Water helps regulate our acidity, but regular tap water can only do so
much.  Since not all water is the same,
here are some different types of water and their benefits!

Water with Electrolytes!

Water
infused with electrolytes are perfect if you’re lacking energy or constantly
having to physically perform, such as your job or running after kiddos. By
adding electrolytes, the water is more readily absorbed throughout the body to
prevent dehydration that can cause fatigue, reduced motivation, mood swings,
and cramping. Water with electrolytes is important because when we partake in
physical activity, we excrete the needed water and electrolytes through our sweat
and even in our breath.

Examples
of water with electrolytes would be Smart Water, or there are electrolyte additives
like; Propel to-go packets, Emergency Hydration +, Big Tree COCO Hydro, Nuun,
Zipfizz, and NutriBeet. (I am not a paid partnership with
any of these companies, nor do I recommend one over the other).

Hot Lemon Water

Hot lemon water is beneficial for gut health. When consumed
regularly, it helps improve mental fog, hunger, and constipation. How? By
drinking 8oz of hot lemon water every morning before your first meal, it can
help clean out the leftover sludge in the intestines and colon. This is a very
common (and natural!) remedy for the gut health stimulation. Gut health is so

Alkaline Water

Drinking alkaline water on a regular basis has many benefits.
Alkaline water is more for those who have metabolic disorders, such as:
diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, acid reflux, lack of energy,
bloating, inflammation, or recovery time. 
So, how does this type of water help? It regulates the body’s Ph levels by
detoxifying harmful toxins, heavy metals, and natural body waste elimination. There
are even recent studies that have shown consuming alkaline water has improved
bone health in females.Alkaline water is a 8.0-9.0 on the PH scale where normal
Tap water is a 7.0 and most bottled water is 6.0-7.0. Alkaline water would be
considered a basic where bottled water would be considered an acid. Alkaline water
is formed by combining potassium hydrxide (KOH) with sodium hydroide (NaOH), this
is then diluted multiple times to create alkaline water.

The type of water you consume has direct influence on your goals,
so, the next time you go to grab some H2O, think about the type of water you’re
reaching for!
